Did you know that Daniel Ramos used to run a sesh called “Cherry Go Round”? He used to tell people that he owned USA Smokeshop, but he actually got fired for giving away merchandise.
Daniel Ramos used to sell “Tiffany OG” cannabis out the back door. He was running an illegal cannabis dispensary out of the smoke shop he worked at in Victorville.
Cherry Go Round and Daniel Ramos in charge of the illegal events has come up as a point of concern with many residents lately. Many residents were excited for the opportunity to open their own small cannabis business. Instead, we were shut out of the process, and cannabis licenses are stacked for only a few companies in town that have paid campaign contributions or gifts to the current Council. Approximately one out of three cannabis companies are paying taxes to the city.
We are confused by the last three years of behaviors from this Planning Commission and City Council regarding dispensary permits. We have spent over $20,000.00 on lawyers and communications to the City and City Council. We and other local equity applicants have been flat out ignored; we are passed over for the large cannabis corporations, as large corporations in Adelanto pay extra dollars to contracts, staff, elected and appointed leaders.
Myself, Tim and other residents have several questions for the City Council and Planning Commission, as these two entities are LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CITY.How exactly was the new stadium software for cannabis festivals acquired? Who paid for the software? Shouldn’t that expense be for SMG? Where are the cannabis event permits from the state and city for SMG? Why is Stadium Management Group allowed to create and promote cannabis/hemp/CBD events without proper permits? Where is the hemp legislation for the companies operating in Adelanto? Where are the on site Cannabis Compliance reports? Why is the Planning Commission and City Staff allowing the CUPs and building of cannabis projects that are denied by CEQA?Please explain to the public why High Seasons is using an Adelanto Dispensary permit in Perris, CA.Please explain to the public why City of Adelanto contracted staff is creating business licensing for hemp and cannabis in Victorville. As far as my personal experiences with Adelanto City Council, Planning Commission, and City Manager Jessie Flores’ employees and contracts since 2018 there are noteworthy events. Daniel Ramos as a Planning Commissioner was sent down to High Desert Cannabis Medications’ proposed dispensary building on Bartlett by Mayor Gabriel Reyes. We had a conversation about the dispensary location, and (then Planning Commissioner) Mayor Pro Tem Ramos expressed that it would be a perfect spot. We were agendized for a “presentation”. The conversation (we didn’t even know what to present, or why we were agendized) was ultimately was shut down by the City Manager and City Attorneys stating that the Council couldn’t make a decision, because it was just a presentation. Mayor Reyes and City Council Members decided then that we had to “get in one of the zones”. As an aside, High Seasons Dispensary has TWO Adelanto cannabis licenses for Type 10 Dispensary and is using one in Perris California. Definitely outside of any zone of influence for the City of Adelanto…
There is a current situation with a new Planning Commissioner and City Council person that is quite concerning to me, as this certain PC decided that even before he received his position that “We would have a dispensary license” and when I told him that the City would have to initiate those types of negotiations, not a Planning Commissioner and a City Councilperson (as that is where corruption happens, behind the closed door), he said “Good luck with that, Ms. Esmeralda.”
Gerry plainly thought that Councilwoman Stevevonna Evans was getting some kind of benefit from Tim and I opening a dispensary. I’m wondering what’s happening in City Hall? Why would any of the individuals running City Hall benefit from someone else opening up a business? Why would any of the elected officials or city employees expect some type of personal benefit when a resident opens a business?
